Project Start & Completion: 14/06/2021 – 08/10/2021
Project Background
Engaged with a technology partner to conduct a feasibility study for the National Startup Data Project (NSDP), aiming to provide comprehensive data on Australia’s startup ecosystem for informed policy decisions and government support.
Project Scope
- The feasibility study required analysing various aspects across delivery, data, legal, and financial streams, and engaging with stakeholders to assess the viability of the national startup data solution.
- The team’s engagement involved extensive user research and design services, including engagement with over 50 stakeholders, detailed use case evaluations, surveys of market offerings, and the creation of solution design options. Engagement occurred through an extensive series of workshops, interviews, meetings, and the sharing and review of information and data. This ensured that recommendations were user-friendly, met requirements, and complied with standards.
- The end research concluded that a national startup data solution is both feasible and necessary. They proposed a staged approach, outlined in a comprehensive report, which included stages for procurement, foundational establishment, expansion, and potential future improvements.

This solution, while challenging, promised a comprehensive view of the startup ecosystem in Australia. The result was instrumental in shaping a feasible solution for answering strategic policy questions, meet user needs, comply with standards, and foster collaboration for long-term sustainability and innovation in Australia’s startup ecosystem.
